[wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”6000″ height=”800″ lightbox=”true”] Victorinox Factory Store Address: 7 Victoria Dr., Monroe, CT 06468 Phone:(203) 929-6391 Hours: Hours are limited – please call first Cheryl and I dropped by the Victorinox factory store in Monroe CT recently. This location serves as their North American headquarters and also offers a store that’s open to the public. They had a tremendous assortment of Swiss Army knives, cutlery, precision watches (male and female), perfume, as well as luggage. All branded with their name. I’m told Swiss Army also has a line of clothing (I did not see that at this location). I also must say these watches are absolutely gorgeous. I was…

Bird in Flight Photography – Hubbard Park

[wzslider autoplay=”true” height=”800″ lightbox=”true”] This was my first attempt at bird in flight photography or what is known amongst photographers as “birding”. My current systems didn’t have fast enough autofocus to handle birds in flight. However, I purchased the new Nikon D7100 which shoots 6fps, has 51 point AF and autofocuses with lenses F8 or faster. This feature is normally only found on hi-end pro camera’s whereas most camera’s in this price range only AF at 5.6 or faster. This allows more lens choices or perhaps a multiplier. I coupled this with the also new Nikon 80-400, AFS-VR, 4.0-5.6 lens. I took about 400 photo’s this afternoon and surprisingly had…

    Blue Heron

[wzslider autoplay=”true” height=”800″ lightbox=”true”]While travelling through Cheshire, CT I spotted this bird sitting on the side of a pond. I parked the car, grabbed my camera and took these three shots from the other side of the small pond. I believe this to be a Blue Heron. Camera Sony Nex 7, 55-210.

    Reflections of fall

[wzslider height=”800″ lightbox=”true”] This is a shot of a fall leaf, (actually from a plant not a tree), on a black plexiglass base and background. The blue reflection you see is actually what the camera produced when the red/orange leaf reflected off the black. I did not use photoshop to change any colors

    Local Farm – Cornwall, CT

[wzslider autoplay=”true” height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”] Cheryl and I were taking a drive through Litchfield County in CT which is known for it’s rolling hills and country landscapes. We happened by a farm named “Local Farm” where we took the two photo’s shown above. This is an interesting place. It used to be a raw milk dairy. Now they hold workshops on the proper care of cows. Read more about “Local Farm” here. This farm was loated on a side street, which sees almost no traffic, in the beautiful countryside of Cornwall.  If you want to lower your blood pressure a ride through Litchfield County usually works, especially in the fall.

    While driving through the country

[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”] On my way home from work, in central Connecticut, I noticed these two cows standing alone in a large empty field. I parked the car, grabbed my carmera and walked over to the fence. To my surprise the smaller cow came over to say Hi. I think she just wanted someone else to talk to besides her friend.
