Journeys Thru My Lens

Trips, topics, pics and more comprised of conventional digital and HDR photography.

Welcome to my photoblog! This is a compilation of brief "journey's" throughout Connecticut and sometimes nearby area's. I'll either display the photo as it was shot or utilize an HDR style through software. This blog is an extension of my photography hobby. It's main function is to give purpose to my photo's while at the same time create an enjoyable past time. If they bring any satsifaction to anyone else then all the better! All photographs in this blog were taken by me unless otherwise noted.

Abandoned gas station.

Abandoned gas station.

These photo’s have an old feel to me but the pumps themselves look fairly modern. All the pumps have their handles on the sides and I can’t remember that in a long, long time.    I can’t exactly put a date on when these gas stations were operational.  I do like the “feel” of the […]

It was the 4th of July weekend and Cheryl and I were travelling down a side road in Rocky Hill, CT when we saw this beautiful old barn.  The site of Old Glory hanging from it’s side made it special.  I’ve since been by this barn and the flag has […]

Knife collection (folding knives only).

I like folding knives.  We used to call them “jack knives”. I like how they look, I like how they feel and I like using them. There… I said it. My fascination began with an Uncle of mine.  He would come down from Boston and visit us in the summers.  […]

Withering Barns, east side of Wallingford, CT

Withering Barns, east side of Wallingford, CT

A couple of nicely aging barns on S. Branford Rd. about 30 yards south of the Whirlwind Hill intersection.  They’re part of a cattle/horse farm that occupies most of the property adjacent to these four corners. At one time Whirlwind Hill was, with it’s dairy farms, a quiety and remote part of […]

Abandoned Mill, Woonsocket RI

Abandoned Mill, Woonsocket RI

This is an old abandoned mill on Railroad Ave., in Woonsocket, RI.  It’s situated a stones throw north of the Manville Dam (see attached photo).  Rhode Island was, back in the day, known for their mills, mostly textile in nature.  Like many mills of the day the town was built up […]
